This charity aims to increase awareness of the dangers of melanoma (skin cancer), as everyone who enjoys work or hobbies in the open air (including gardeners) is at risk from melanoma. The space is composed of a circular bed made up of nine woodern containers slotted together to depict a circular sun. The planting will consist of yellow foliage studded with orange Gazania and red Salvia against a slightly raised centrepiece of Choisya ternata ‘Sundance’ infiltrated by Phormium ‘Platts Black’. There will be a black foliage rim behind the sun, depicting the threat of melanoma, and black fingers (Ipomaea batatas ‘Blackie’) will spread into the yellow ‘sun’. Black basil and black sempervivums will sit within a mat of black Ajuga reptans and purple Acaena.
