Lavender Fields

Designer: Tim Sharples

Contractor: M J H

Fields of lavender are an increasingly common sight in the English landscape, reflecting the perennial popularity of this much-loved garden favourite. Downderry Nursery, RHS Gold Medal winners and recipients of the Best Floral Marquee Exhibit at the show in 2005, has recreated a mouth-watering miniature lavender landscape using 700 highly-prized and eminently versatile Lavandula x intermedia ‘Grosso’. Whether grown for its sheer beauty and fragrance, the distinctively sharp aroma of its oil, as a dried flower or for the gloriously refreshing flavour of the honey produced from it, this lavender is evocative of the long, hot days of an English summer.Down Derry Nursery, Lavender Fields - final image
