The theme of this garden is life-long education - how what we learn shapes our lives. The trees in the garden represent us as individuals or students of life. The planting around the edge of the garden represents the subjects available to us at school, college, evening classes and clubs as a child or adult. The planting underneath each tree represents the eclectic mix of subjects, interests and knowledge we pick up through life - there are some commonalities, but essentially the mixture becomes completely individual to each of us. In the centre is the ‘fount of knowledge’ - a circular bench seat with a bubbling fountain in the middle.
This is a plant enthusiast’s garden. It is intended to educate people about planting, and to give ideas for planting combinations to try at home. The plants used need minimal watering.
