This is an ecologically sustainable, contemporary garden. A serene central seating area is surrounded by a rill supplied by a solar-powered pump. The seating area can be accessed via flagstones floating on a flat pond. This area will be surrounded by planted spheres and vertical flowering perennials and will look good with or without water. The state of the nation’s water supplies is highly topical.
The planting scheme shows that using drought-tolerant plants need not create an arid, barren-looking garden. The hot colours of the planting scheme give the garden a sense of warmth, even on a cloudy day. This brother and sister design and build team have several years' experience in the private landscaping sector, the film and television industry and won an RHS Silver-Gilt Medal at last year’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
