This is a simple, stylish, modern garden. It uses economical and functional materials in an inventive way. The use of strong architectural plant forms creates a year-round backbone to offset the easily maintained seasonal planting. The garden is a cool and restful space, with its predominant colour palette of silver, white and green. Spots of dappled shade are created by the striking box-headed Acer campestre, which form natural portals.
The formal structural elements contrast with the softer, varied seasonal planting. Galvanised metal is an economical and modern linking element, and is used for the path edges, seats, perimeter and screening fencing and the bespoke agricultural trough that forms the simple water feature.
