Inspired by one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays, this garden takes its cue from the flowers mentioned in the verse: “I know a bank where wild thyme blows; Where oxlids and nodding violet grows; Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine; With sweet musk roses and eglantine; There sleeps Titania sometime of the night; Lull’d in these flowers with dances and delight.”
The bank to the rear of the garden represents the edge of the woodland as mentioned in the verse. A stone temple is the folly where Titania sleeps among a bed of roses. Elizabethan-style box hedging lines the pathways, and topiary and statues add interest.
Boardman Gelly & Co are veterans of the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show having only missed two shows since making their debut in 1992, collecting four RHS Bronze Medals and eight RHS Silver Medals along the way.
