Daily Mail Darling Buds of May Pavilion

This year, the Daily Mail Pavilion looks back to the sunny Kentish days of the 1950s so vividly described by H E Bates in his series of books about the Larkin family. The cottage, the prize in the Daily Mail Dream Cottage competition, is a beautiful oast house, and in the Pavilion it is surrounded by a delightful garden with an abundance of fruit.

A plan of the show gardens in the Daily Mail PavilionThe Larkins lived well off the land, and as well as vegetables and fruit, there is a flock of chickens in the orchard and a sow and piglets in the sty. These pigs are distant relatives of the 'Tamworth Two', Butch and Sundance, who escaped in Malmesbury 10 years ago, were rescued by the Daily Mail and now live in luxuryat the Canterbury Oast Trust.
