This garden has been designed for a professional couple with no children who enjoy relaxing in their small garden on summer evenings. The design is based on the Greek letter omega, and contains both contemporaryand traditional elements. Low, raised beds made from polished stainless steel (with built-in chestnut seating) are planted with a range of low maintenance plants that have been chosen for leaf colour and form. The beds are designed to reflect light, making the garden seem more spacious.

The Duchy College small gardenThe raised beds surround a small area of low maintenance lawn, which in turn surrounds a glass-topped table complete with a water feature, adding a subtle sound dimension. Surrounding the whole garden are slightly opaque, Perspex panels that allow protection from cool evening breezes without compromising the quality of the light. These panels also give the impression that the garden extends beyond its boundaries into the surrounding area.
