Mundy's Cottage Garden

The garden surrounding a thatched Dorset cottage reflects the interests of the owner, an estate manager with an enthusiasm for gardening.

The productive fruit, vegetable and flower garden features high quality produce grown for home use as well as for exhibiting at local shows.

The ornamental garden is planted in a typical cottage garden style, with an eclectic mix of plants and a predominance of dahlias and lilies. The birch and hazel copse combines a natural theme with stylish planting.

Kitchen Garden

The kitchen garden has a containerised veg plot and an attractive home office, showing how someone environmentally aware could work from home.

Taking regular screen breaks from the computer and pottering in the vegetable garden can bring balance and harmony to a daily routine - as well as being productive.

Beyond the Garden Wall

A beautiful wall provides the background to this garden, which features an elegant greenhouse as its focal point.

Beyond the wall, two magnificent parallel herbaceous borders are divided by two still water rills. Viewed from the side, the borders are split into six beds, adding a twist to a traditional herbaceous border. The rills add tranquility and reflect the colours of the borders.

This design evokes the spirit of the new wave of English vineyards, which now include more than 400 vineyards, mostly small in scale.

Rose bushes planted alongside the vines give an early indication of pests and diseases - a low tech, yet reliable, solution.
