"Southend–on-Sea Borough Council in partnership with Metal present The Water Table"

Southend-on-Sea Borough CouncilSouthend Borough Council’s ‘Metal’ Garden

Designers: Southend Borough Council's Parks Technical Section & Metal Culture
Sponsors: Essex & Suffolk Water & Arts Council England, East
Contractor: Southend Borough Council's Parks Team

The garden is based around water issues including those of water conservation and excessive runoff and is designed to showcase planting suitable for an increasingly drier, hotter climate.

The inspiration for the garden has come from the paling in Chalkwell Park and from a project being developed in the park by national art group Metal, who are converting the Grade II building into a communal area where the local art community can gather for ‘working meals’ featuring locally found produce.
