"Sustainability Can Be Sexy"

Floral & Hardy GardensSustainability Can Be Sexy

Designer: Helen Ellison (Floral & Hardy Gardens)
Sponsor: Royal Bank of Scotland
Contractor: Floral & Hardy Gardens

Intended for a family with young children, this garden has been designed as a place for children to play and for families to be entertained and relax. The garden aims to encourage sustainability and eco-friendly living with a small vegetable plot to grow crops and herbs, as well as a small ‘meadow’ area full of wild flowers and grasses to attract wildlife.

The design has a contemporary feel, created by using curved walls within the garden to disguise the ‘squareness’ of the plot. The family garden also incorporates a curved timber building, which provides useful storage space or can be used as an extra play area or office.
