London Wildlife Trust's Future Garden
London Wildlife Trust
Designer: Ruth Holmes

‘Future Garden’ demonstrates a garden 50+ years in the future, including some new wildlife we might expect to find in the UK as a result of climate change eg. Camberwell Beauty Butterfly, Southern Emerald Dautelfly, Golden Oniole, Kuhl’s Pipistrelle and Wasp Spider. These species are artistically represented in the garden.
The garden is designed to fit in with the expected future weather conditions of potentially drier, hotter summers and wetter winters. It embodies a 1950s view of the ‘Space Age’ future using shapes that reflect the geometry of nature. The garden includes familiar objects from today that are obsolete in the future, but have found alternative use.
