Bursaries & Scholarships Introduction
A recognised qualification in its own right, the Advanced Certificate also forms the first stage of the RHS Diploma in Horticulture . Although there are no formal entry requirements, candidates are recommended to hold the Level 2 Certificate or equivalent and have sound practical experience. The qualification is modular in structure with three compulsory modules and one optional one. One of the compulsory modules assesses practical skills. The four modules must be completed within a qualifying period of four years.
Compulsory modules
- Module A: Plant Propagation; Growing Media and Plant Nutrition
- Module B: Plant Taxonomy, Morphology and Anatomy; Plant Health; Plant Physiology I
- Module C: Practical Horticulture
Option modules
One module selected from:
- Module D: Outdoor Plant Production; Protected Plant Production
- Module I: Planning layout and Construction of Ornamental Gardens; Restoring Established Ornamental Gardens
- Module J: Establishment and Maintenance of Decorative Ornamental Turf; Plant Selection, Establishment and Maintenance; Hardy Ornamental Nursery Stock
