Lindley Library, London: temporary closure - update November 2011
Following a small fire on 22 July in our main stack room, on the lower ground floor, we are sorry to report that the Lindley Library, London, remains closed to visitors, and is expected to remain closed for several more months. We have not yet been given a date for re-opening.

We are sorry that none of London’s research or art material is accessible, even to Library staff. We wish to provide the best services we can to all of our readers during these difficult circumstances.
At present the following services are in place:
Lending service from Lindley Library, London: Contact us to reserve lending material you would like to borrow. It will be available to collect from the library on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2pm to 4.30pm. We are sorry, but the library is not accessible for browsing at these times.
Search the Library catalogue at www.rhs.org.uk/libraries (see panel below): Books available for loan from Lindley Library London will have the location London Lending Stock Upper Reading Room. All items with the location Stack, Lower Reading Room, Rare Books Room, or Pamphlet Collection are not accessible. Wisley lending material is available as normal.
Lending service via Lindley Library Wisley: Material can be sent to Lindley Library Wisley for you to collect from there. Please contact us at library@rhs.org.uk or phone 01483 212428 (11am to 4pm daily).
Research collections: Lindley Library Wisley has a good published research collection, including Gardeners’ Chronicle, and a large lending collection (open to all garden visitors 11am to 4pm daily). Plant monographs and science works are held in the Science Research Collections (open to members and the public by appointment Mon-Fri, telephone 01483 212428).
Enquiry service: London and Wisley Library staff are handling research enquiries, based at Lindley Library Wisley, except for enquiries requiring access to materials only held at London.
Image request service: For specific commercial or research image requests please contact images@rhs.org.uk until further notice, or browse via www.rhsimages.co.uk.
Lindley Library Wisley and the other Garden Libraries remain open as usual.
