RHS Photographic Competition 2009

The RHS Photographic Competition returns for 2009 and is now open for your entries. Whether you’re a budding photographer, garden enthusiast or just someone who likes taking snap shots of the outdoors, there is a category, and prize, waiting for you.
This year we have simplified the competition creating six distinct categories for adults and two for children and young people. As always the top adult prize is £1,000 and the title of RHS Photographer of the Year, while younger photographers can battle it out for a high spec digital camera and the chance to be named RHS Young Photographer of the Year.
The Medici Award returns but with a slight difference as it is now a discretionary award. The Medici judge will choose from all the entries, finding the photographer who has the best eye for commercial photography, awarding them the honour of Medici Photographer of the Year and the privilege of seeing their image made into an RHS greeting card for 2010.
Categories
Adult (aged 19 and over)
Plant Portrait: This category is for photos that show the plant, tree or shrub as a whole or near whole entity; for example a shot that includes the petals, stem and leaves of a flower
Plant Close-up: This category is for photos that focus on certain details of a plant, tree or shrub; for example the bark of a tree
Garden View: This category is for photos showing a garden landscape, either looking into or out of a garden
Wildlife in the Garden: This category is for photos of insects, birds and creatures found wild in the garden (N.B. this does not include domestic pets)
People in the Garden: This category is for photos of garden lovers in their natural habitat
Garden Edibles: This category is for pictures of fruit and vegetables that have been grown in a garden, allotment or landshare site.
Children and Young People
Budding Photographer (aged 14 – 18)
