Help garden birds

Birds in the Garden event at RHS Garden Harlow Carr
12-16 February 2007

If you’d like to find out more about helping birds at this important time of the year, when they need food and shelter, come along to the Birds in the Garden event at RHS Garden Harlow Carr between 12 - 16 February. There will be a whole range of interesting and fun activities:

  • 12 February 10.30am, 12.15pm & 2.30pm: Bird box and seed cake making workshops - need to pre-book
  • 13 February 11am, 1pm & 2pm: ‘Sounds of the Forest’ music workshops for children aged 6 upwards - need to pre-book
  • 14 & 16 February 1.30pm and 2.30pm: storyteller Penny Dolan will be telling feathery fables
  • 15 February 2pm: bird watching walk suitable for families to help you identify birds in the garden - need to pre-book
  • 16 February bird box display showing the different types for different birds, the range of bird feeders available and advice on what food will attract which birds.
  • Themed family activities model & paper activities and puppet making

Or just come along and marvel at the variety of birds feeding at the bird feeding station from the bird hide.

Places on all walks are limited and therefore need to be booked in advance by telephoning 01423 724680, RHS members £3, non-members £9, Children £2 (inclusive of Garden admission fee). Normal Garden entrance fee applies to all other activities RHS members free, Adults £6, Children 6-16 £2, Children under 6 free.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr is open every day from 9.30am until 6pm (or 4pm November-February inclusive) except Christmas Day. Last admission one hour before closing. 2006 prices: RHS members free, adult admission £6, children six to 16 £1.60, children under six free of charge.

The proceeds taken from events and tickets sales at all RHS gardens help to fund the many activities undertaken by the RHS to promote horticulture and help gardeners.
