Impatiens trial

Trials are normally grown from plants (as opposed to seed, unless the plants are propagated mainly from seed; this is indicated in the list) submitted by nurserymen, individuals, breeders etc (the senders to trial) and are open to visitors to RHS Garden Wisley except for those grown in restricted areas.

RHS Herbarium

Trials are an important source of material for the RHS Herbarium located at Wisley.

Online pea trial

Online pea trial

We have been running a trial of mangetout and sugar snap peas in 2009 and 200 visitors to RHS Online are taking part too. By reporting on their  results, these gardeners will help to assess how well the cultivars grow in a domestic situation. This information will help us with our assessment for the Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

We have teamed up with seed supplier Thompson & Morgan to provide seed for 200 people to grow at home. T&M has provided one packet each of 'Oregon Sugar Pod' (mangetout) (300 seeds) and 'Sugar Ann' (sugar snap) (250 seeds).

Trials conference 2011

Companies and organisations granting awards to plants will be getting together to discuss approaches to plant assessment for the first time.
