Malus (ornamental crab apples)

Malus x robusta 'Red Siberian' - Photograph copyright RHSCrab apples belong to the genus Malus, related to the common apple Malus domestica. There are about 35 species of these deciduous trees and shrubs. Originating from woodland in Europe, Asia and North America, they are grown for their fragrant flowers and edible fruits. Crab apples make ideal specimen trees, suitable for small gardens.
