Moving to a cold frame/hardening off
If lettuce seedlings are kept in very warm conditions, they can grow too tall, too quickly, resulting in a plant that isn't as compact as it should be.
As the seedlings are now quite well established, and the warmer, sunnier weather is increasing the temperature in the glasshouse, the seedlings are moved to the cooler conditions of a cold frame.
The move here also hardens them off - helps condition them to outdoor temperatures.
They will be kept here until they are large enough to be planted out on the trials field.
