Research

Diseases

No garden is immune from the effects of plant diseases. Many are of comparatively little importance, although they may disfigure foliage or flowers. Others, however, can pose a major threat to garden plants. Fortunately, in many cases, there is often the possibility of satisfactory control measures. Information on the control of a range of garden diseases is available in the Advice section.

Pathologists at RHS Wisley undertake research on some of the major diseases of garden plants. These include:

Box blights

Honey fungus

Phytophthora root diseases

There is also a long-term project for the mapping of diseases within RHS Garden Wisley.
