Wildlife gardening
Gardens are an increasingly important as a refuge and food source for wildlife. Nowhere is this more true than in urban gardens. Encouraging wildlife in gardens is a strong area of development for the Society. Wildlife in gardens is also the subject of one of the Society's Conservation and Environment Guideline leaflets.
The RHS has established the River Wey embankment conservation area. Here, staff are monitoring the development of wildlife in response to an active management plan. Details of plants and animals recorded there are maintained by scientific staff in the standard database for such information, RECORDER.
