April 08 - RHS Tatton Park Flower Show, July 2008
Oaklands School, Winsford in Cheshire are the leading school in a project that will be designing and developing a Show Garden for the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show 2008. The Show Garden ‘Salt in Our Community’ is the combined effort of Winsford Education Partnership working with 10 local schools.
An extract from the Draft Clients brief:
‘The primary purpose is education. We want to promote collaboration through a real and relevant project with a specific aim. The overarching theme for our garden is the salt industry since Winsford has the largest salt mine in Europe. Our garden will be made up of containers. Each school will determine how their container will be decorated and filled. Each container will have a sculpture made by the pupils. We aim to use salt tolerant / seaside plants. This will enable pupils to do some significant research on soil conditions and plant groups’
Schools will be visiting the Salt Museum in Winsford as part of this project.
In 2007 Oaklands did a Back to Back garden titled ‘Wild Cheshire in a Box’ – see information on this below.
