Setting up a School Garden

If appropriately planned, the school garden can be stimulating and also motivating which will allow children to become more aware of and more actively involved in their surroundings. The day will include a look at design choices, their benefits and uses as an outdoor classroom and some basic horticultural techniques eg planting/transplanting, growing in containers etc

Growing fruit and Vegetables

Encourage children to think about healthy eating and to discover where some of our food comes from. Learn how to set up and maintain a vegetable garden with crops suitable for term times. Develop more horticultural skills. Discuss and share ideas for linking activities to the curriculum. Curriculum suggestions specific to KS1&2 but day suitable for all key stages.
