Wigwams made of coppiced silver birch add height and give the sweet peas a support to grow up

Designer Sarah Raven says the borders have a bride (the lupin) a bridesmaid (the cosmos) and a gatecrasher (the Iceland poppy) to make the combination so successul. This pretty poppy is Papaver 'Champagne Bubbles'.

Alliums, salvias, geums and cerinthe, interspersed with grasses, make this an exciting planting combination. Cosmos (bright pink flower in the background) is one of Sarah's favourites because, she says, it's so reliable and flowers for ages.

The Anneka Rice Colour Cutting Garden

Pathways made of red brick divide the eight 2.5sq m flowerbeds. This garden was planned to be easily replicated in anyone's garden at home and as most of the plants could be grown from seed, it is perfect for gardeners on a budget.
