From one point of view, this design consists of rigid structures that conceal parts of the garden from the viewer. From another point of view, those same structures reveal and frame parts of the garden. Different Viewpoints combines rigid structures with plants such as soft grasses, selected specifically for the movement they bring to the space. The structures are designed so that they appear to move depending on your position, offering a number of different views within this small garden.
The planting palette ranges from muted oranges and yellows, with complementary purples, through to silvers and whites at the rear of the garden, providing a foil for the lighting scheme. The colours are carried through into the stained glass water feature. Three Betula utilis var. jacquemontii create height and colour.
This garden has been designed as a place to relax and escape the stresses of life. This is achieved by combining practical elements, such as decking, seating and an arbour for shade, with soothing features such as moving water, a fire bowl and of course abundant planting. This is a place to unwind - whatever your viewpoint.
