Vale Royal Borough Council’s Fairtrade show feature takes you on a journey to experience the brutal reality of poverty and hardship experienced by farmers who do not get fair prices for their goods.
The feature is based on a South American landscape, chosen to celebrate the fact that Puerto Rica was the birthplace of the Fairtrade movement more than 30 years ago. The journey is one of hope, taking you through a vibrant market place to experience life in a Fairtrade village, complete with artisans and musicians. Journey past the banana plantation and learn about how poor water management in South America is killing the land. Walk through misters irrigating the banana plants, and cross the bridge to complete your journey from poverty, ending in a hut overlooking a lush, tropical garden.
Vale Royal Borough Council hopes that you enjoy this educational and entertaining show feature, and support the Fairtrade ideology through your shopping habits.
