This garden is designed to be a haven for the family, combining areas for both children and parents to unwind and relax. The planting includes established trees and shrubs, with seasonal flowering plants to give structure and interest.

The New Children’s Hospital Appeal was launched in May 2006, and aims to raise £20 million to help fund projects within the new children’s hospital. Located in central Manchester, the new hospital will be the largest children’s hospital in the UK, and will have more beds and additional operating theatres, as well as outdoor play areas, a teenage chill-out and meeting area, and a sitting room for parents. Manchester’s existing children’s hospitals currently receive more than 140,000 patient visits each year from all over the north west. When the new hospital opens, it will be able to provide the highest standard of treatment and care to the thousands of patients in the region.

The appeal is focusing on two main areas: ensuring that the new state-of-the-art buildings have the best equipment available for diagnosis and treatment, and providing accommodation so that parents can stay close to their child during treatment.
