Reaseheath College with Müller Dairy (UK)’s schools garden, The Plot, has been designed and constructed by students from Reaseheath College in Nantwich. It contains plants raised by children from infant and junior schools in Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire. The garden has been designed to promote healthy living and awareness of the origins of food among primary school age pupils.

The Growing Spaces dome, which provides the focal point, is designed and constructed to minimise environmental impact. The dome does not require additional heat sources, enabling year-round gardening and food cultivation. Solar panels power a fan that draws warm air under the raised beds. Reflected heat is stored within an internal water feature, which keeps the dome warm at night. The dome’s walls are insulated and it has an automatic ventilation system.

A diverse range of tropical fruits and vegetables are grown within the dome, using biological pest control methods. The surrounding school garden demonstrates fruit and vegetable production, alongside companion planting techniques.
