Without time and money, scientific research cannot move forward - this garden’s theme draws attention to the work of Cancer Research UK with an eye-catching summer display of vegetables and herbs.
Its geometric design points symbolically in different directions by focusing on two interlocking versions of the charity’s arrow logo, one paved and one edged with Buxus sempervirens. A thyme ball features at the point of one arrow, and Moneymaker tomatoes at the other. Time itself is represented by an innovative contemporary sundial situated near the square thyme seat. Health, productivity and sheer enjoyment underpin the planting, with wild strawberries and red nasturtiums making bold use of the wall as a host for planting.
Generous donations of time and money have created an entertaining yet thoughtprovoking charity garden, and the project is indebted to Clarke Lambert Landscapes, Cardiem and Marshalls for their support. Assisted by its own website, it is hoped that the Donations Garden itself, and the ethos behind it, will inspire further donations of time and money to Cancer Research UK.
