This garden is dramatic, sculptural and colourful, and is a sanctuary in which to escape. Tetrad is the four pillars of material reality and the garden is based on the points of a square, which represent stability, equality, volume and strength.

In terms of the inner self, the garden also represents thinking, feeling, sensing and intuition. This room is framed by four walls, displaying soft, lush planting that is a mix of grasses and flowering perennials divided into four beds. Water trickles down the dry stone pillars to creative sound and movement.

Designer Matthew Unwin has been awarded numerous RHS Medals at Tatton, including Silver-Gilts in both 2005 and 2006.
