The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent fells, serene lakes and tumbling waterfalls. Paradise Found distils these elements and condenses them into a snapshot of this beautiful part of the world.
At the back of the garden is a luxurious lodge, a perfect holiday retreat, shaded by a small group of conifers. At the front there is a grassy bank that in days gone by would have sloped down to a stream. As climate change takes hold, the stream has all but dried up, leaving a moisture-retentive gully crammed with plants.
There is a small wildflower meadow in the centre of the garden where the grass has been colonised by a variety of wildflowers, providing a haven for insects and butterflies. The rocky outcrops and scree slopes are covered with a range of alpines. Specimen shrubs and green slate have been sourced to reflect those found in the Lake District. The plants used echo the diversity of flora found in this part of the country, including in those areas designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
