The winner of BBC Gardener of the Year 2006 returns to Tatton this year with an ornamental, exotic garden that celebrates the garden at Great Dixter and brings inspiration to the north of England.
Instead of aiming to recreate the famous East Sussex garden, the designer echoes the main idea of blending an old courtyard setting with modern, exotic planting. To emphasise the use of exotics, plants take over the garden, and landscaping is understated with a small rural courtyard made up of brick pillar and rendered walls to represent outbuildings and boundary walls.
There is also some decorative edible plants such as climbing beans and chard.
