Salt and our Community
Exhibitor: Oaklands School/Winsford Education Partnership
Designer: Oaklands School
The purpose of this garden, which celebrates the salt industry and the art of the canal boats that transported salt throughout Cheshire and the North West, is to promote collaborative working among schools through the Winsford Education partnership.
The garden is made up of 11 containers, all decorated and filled by children from primary and special schools in Winsford, to highlight the fact that Winsford has the largest salt mine in Europe. Each container features pieces of art created by pupils aged five to 16, including some pieces made by young people with special needs as part of an enterprise project. This garden covers all aspects of the National Curriculum.
