Always There

This garden highlights the fact that Samaritans are available 24/7 (365 days) for people who are in distress or suicidal. It has been designed to represent the journey of life, sometimes easy and sometimes difficult.

Part of the garden has been left untended, signifying that not all places are accessible and that life is a balance between what is natural and what is nurtured. The garden features lighting so that it can be enjoyed throughout the day and night, encapsulating its title Always There. There are vertical structures in three materials to signify the stages of youth, middle age and old age, and a water feature that provides a calming influence and demonstrates that life does not stand still.

We are running a competition for local hospices in the North West and the winning hospice will be rewarded with this garden, which will be rebuilt within their grounds – so the Always There concept will live on.
