Plants from Down Under

Promoted by Floral Committee C (Tender Ornamental Plant Committee)

This seminar will focus on plants that originate from the temperate areas of Australia, with emphasis on their uses and cultivation both under glass and in the open air in British gardens. In addition, there will be displays of plants and literature in the reception area.

Cost: £15 (includes tea and coffee)

All lecture timings include five minutes for questions

10 - 10.30am: Registration and coffee

10.30am: Introduction - Valerie Payne
10.35 - 11.20: Sue Minter (Director of Horticulture, Eden Project) - Down under, an overview
11.25am - 12.10pm: Wolfgang Bopp (Curator, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens) - Western Australian plants

12.10 - 2pm: Free time for lunch, viewing London Show and exhibits on Level 2

2 - 2.45pm: Jeff Irons (President, Australasian Plant Society) - South-eastern Australian plants
2.50 - 3.15pm: Marcella Corcoran (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) - Australian orchid conservation

3.20 - 3.50pm: Tea

3.50 - 4.15pm: David Cooke (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) - Growing Australian plants under glass
4.20 - 4.45pm: Jonathan Hutchinson (RHS Garden, Rosemoor) - Bushwalking in the Blue Mountains
4.45 - 5pm: General questions and conclusion

On arrival please enter the Conference Centre by the separate door situated at the right of the Lawrence Hall façade (in Greycoat Street). Registration will take place on the second floor of the conference centre; there is a lift available from reception. Please move down to the Lecture Theatre on the first floor in time to be seated by 10.30am.
