Discover the plant treasures of the Himalayas

At the RHS London Flower Show on 19 February a host of speakers took part in a seminar entitled Plant Hunting in the Himalaya.

Highlights included a lecture by David Millward of the British Geological Survey on how the geology and weather of the region affect plant hunters.

Chris Grey-Wilson, Editor of the Alpine Gardener and The Plantsman, talked about alpine plants to the west of Everest, and Ron McBeath focussed on the eastern region. John Birks from Bergen University and Bill Baker from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew discussed northwest Bhutan, based on their visit to explore the alpine areas and forests.
