A spreading, thorny, deciduous shrub about 1m tall, with rounded, glossy mid-green leaves, red-flushed when young. Clusters of rich orange, cup-shaped flowers are produced in spring, followed by yellow fruit in autumn. These can be used to make jams and jellies but please see notes on toxicity for further advice
