It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Subpumilum' is a compact deciduous fern to 10cm tall, with glossy black stalks bearing pedately divided fronds composed of fresh green, close-packed oblong segments
'Gallery Pablo' is a compact plant to 50cm, with light coral-red flowerheads, the florets shading to apricot-yellow towards the base
'Gerda' is a deciduous shrub or small tree, with deep purple foliage from spring to autumn and flat heads of small, pinkish-purple flowers, followed by purple-black berries
'Ashby' is a bushy plant growing to 90cm tall and wide at maturity. The lobed, scented leaves are mid- to dark-green and flowers are a pink-purple colour with dark central markings on the upper petals
'Claire Maxine' is most notable for its gleaming, puckered foliage, mid-green, reddening in winter. Flowers are deep pink but sometimes hidden beneath the leaves; flowers mostly in spring with sporadic flowers produced through to October
'Diana Clare' is a vigorous semi-evergreen perennial with narrow silvery-green leaves, lightly speckled with dark green near the margins, and violet-blue flowers from late winter to late spring
'Tsatsumi Gold' is a slow-growing coniferous shrub, to 2m tall, with a rounded habit that gradually becomes broadly-columnar as the plant ages. Its branches and branchlets are twisted and contorted and densely-covered with small scale-like leaves. Young foliage is bright yellow, becoming yellow-green in summer before taking on golden-yellow tones in autumn and winter
'Karneol' is an upright perennial to 1.2m tall, flowering in late summer and autumn, the flowerheads with spreading deep red ray florets surrounding a brown centre
'Rotschwanz' is a rounded deciduous shrub with glossy dark green leaves that colour wine-red in autumn. Flattened lacecap flowerheads with large deep red, cross-shaped sterile flowers and fertile flowers of pink and white are produced in mid and late summer
'Wisley Supreme' is a spreading deciduous shrub or small tree, with broadly ovate or rounded leaves and fragrant golden-yellow flowers borne in small clusters on the leafless twigs from mid to late winter
