'Sugar Plum' is a compact deciduous shrub with arching branches of lance-shaped leaves, whitish beneath, and long panicles of rich purple-red, scented flowers
'Oeschberg' is a striking cultivar, many-branched but upright, with dark foliage and crimson flower spikes
Plants grown as A. africanus are evergreen perennials with strap-shaped leaves and erect stems to 0.8m, bearing umbels of deep blue, trumpet-shaped flowers in summer
'Clearview Louise' grows to around 1.5m tall. It blooms in summer and early autumn, with large flowerheads to 20cm across bearing petals blended in pale yellow and pink or bronze
'Rosea' is a small, vase-shaped, deciduous tree. The very small, small, single flowers are shell pink, opening in mid-spring from red buds
I. lobata is a twining climber up to 5m tall, usually grown as an annual, with three-lobed leaves. The crimson-flushed stems bear one-sided racemes of small, tubular, dark red flowers which fade to orange and then a creamy yellow in summer
'Harvest Moon' is a herbaceous perennial with branched stems bearing large, fragrant flowerheads to 10cm wide, with reflexed, deep golden-yellow petals and an orange-brown central cone, from mid-summer to early autumn
'Caecilia' is a compact ivy with small, light green, frilled leaves variegated with creamy-white; makes a good houseplant
Mary Rose is an upright shrub rose to 1.2m tall with twiggy growth and fragrant, cupped, double rose-pink, loose-petalled flowers 8-9cm across in summer and autumn
'Pleniflora' is a vigorous suckering medium-sized deciduous shrub, with prominently veined, light green leaves and solitary bright yellow, double flowers from mid-spring
