E. × pasteurii is an evergreen shrub forming a dome up to 1.5m tall and wide. Stiff, upward-curving stems bear narrow, green leaves with a creamy-white midrib and may in autumn take on red tinges. From early- to mid-summer, these stems are topped with clusters of honey-scented, yellow-brown flowers
'Dixter' is a spreading rhizomatous perennial to 90cm, making a thicket of erect stems clothed with narrow dark green, red-tinged leaves and ending in a cluster of bright orange-red flowers
Excalibur is an upright perennial with young foliage wine-red in early spring, later grey-green, with sprays of bright yellow flower-heads in summer
'Fens Ruby' is a fast-spreading rhizomatous perennial with feathery, linear purple leaves and greenish-yellow flowers from late spring
E. ceratocarpa is a tall, upright, evergreen, sub-shrub to about 170cm in height and spread with slightly bluish foliage. The main flowering period is mid-summer to mid-autumn, but it can produce its yellow-green flowers more or less year round in mild conditions
