H. bellum is a semi-evergreen, densely-branched shrub with arching stems to 1m tall. Leaves arebroadly ovate to almost circular with wavy edges; golden-yellow, cup-shaped flowers to 3.5cm in diameter are borne at stem tips above the foliage from early summer into autumn
H. hircinum subsp. albimontanum is a semi-evergreen, compact shrub to about 1m tall with broadly ovate, wavy-edged leaves that emit a strong odour when bruised. Yellow flowers to 3cm across with long, prominent stamens are produced in summer
H. × moserianum is a spreading dwarf deciduous shrub with arching red stems and ovate leaves. Flowers to 5cm in width, golden-yellow with reddish anthers
