I. crenata is a slow-growing, evergreen shrub or small tree, to 6m tall, with glossy, sometimes spiny, wavy-toothed, tiny leaves to 3cm long and nearly 2cm wide. Small white flowers, borne in summer, are followed by black fruits
'Convexa' is a small, bushy evergreen shrub with small glossy, dark green, convex leaves. Flowers small, dull white, followed by black berries
'Korean Gem' has small green, glossy alternate leaves which are even and smooth. Slow-growing, it produces small white flowers in late spring to early summer.
