RHS Interchange Fellow 2016-17

My aspiration as a landscape architect is to first and foremost be a gardener, who understands the rhythms of the natural world over time and how people can step into those rhythms in a meaningful way.

My goal during these ten months in Britain is to explore how the natural world can be designed to create experiences which captivate the hearts and imaginations of people. I also what to immerse myself in the rich gardening heritage of Britain, while seeing the varied natural and cultural landscape throughout Britain and Europe. In addition to working at some of the leading horticultural institutions, I am eager to visit as many other botanical gardens, public gardens, nurseries, parks and landscapes as possible. I hope to build relationships with the people behind each of these places and learn how they forge connections between people and the nature. My dream job is to run a landscape design school situated in the midst of a garden, where students will be trained to bridge the gap between horticulture and design. I am excited to use every opportunity, whilst in the UK, to be a student in another country and actively reach towards my goal of training a future generation of designers who are gardeners at heart.
