Prepare in advance

Our lesson and workshop plans (below) will help you prepare your pupils for their visit, so that they receive the maximum benefit from their day at Rosemoor.

How to book guided visits and workshops

  1. Choose a workshop from the Rosemoor brochure (1.6 MB pdf).
  2. Contact us to book and plan your visit.
  3. Read our guidance for schools visiting RHS Garden Rosemoor
  4. Book a pre-visit to help you gain the most from your day. Please note that free entry is only for those who will be accompanying children on the day of the visit.
  5. Use our self-guided resources to help you plan the self-guided part of your day.
  6. Please help RHS Garden Rosemoor create less pollution by recycling and carrying home your landfill waste.

All pre-booked educational visits are free of charge. If you feel able to give a donation to the RHS to help support our educational work this would be much appreciated; we ask you to consider a donation of £3 per child for your visit.

Secondary school workshops

We can give opportunities for students to focus on practical outdoor experiences which enhance and extend their learning and we work with a number of secondary schools to provide lessons and activities to suit their needs. These have been for classes, or whole year groups, where we have delivered several different workshops to groups who have rotated through these during their visit.

Topics so far have included:

  • Soil testing
  • Plant identification
  • Environmental field studies
  • Plant propagation
  • A day in the life of a gardener
  • Art from nature
Special Educational Needs (SEN) workshops

Our garden is a perfect environment for all children to feel relaxed, have fun and access quality learning. We cater for children of all ages and abilities, and we can adapt existing workshops or create new workshops for your specific requirements.
