RHS Level 4 Diploma in Horticultural Practice
Duration: 2 years
Students rotate through 10 departments in the Garden, learning practical horticultural skills and gaining valuable experience. The course also comprises a detailed lecture and masterclass programme, and students complete various pieces of assessed coursework.
Students on the DHP are put through a number of short practical based national qualifications, which include:

Specialist Horticultural Placement
Duration: 1 year
In addition to the Level 4 Diploma in Horticultural Practice, RHS Garden Wisley also offers a limited number of opportunities each year to gain experience in a specialist area. This is a one year placement in the garden within the: Glasshouse, Fruit and Vegetable, Rock and Alpine or Arboriculture teams. The placement involves the production of some academic work as well as a whole year’s experience within the garden.
Self-catering, en-suite accommodation is provided at Hanbury Court in the village of Wisley.

Applicants are expected as a minimum to hold a National Certificate in Horticulture, an RHS Level 2 in Horticulture, or similar. Additionally applicants should also have at least six months of practical horticultural experience in a professional environment.
