Mara Uzzell

RHS Library Volunteer

Visits to Wisley formed part of my childhood; working in the library at Wisley in my ‘retirement’ feels like completing a circle and has rekindled my interest in garden history, and women gardeners in particular.

As a twice weekly library volunteer at Wisley, I wear two hats; working one day as one of the Collections volunteers on book withdrawals and the initial processing of new books, and on the other day assisting Liz Taylor on material for the RHS archive. So I have a rich variety of tasks in the ‘back office’ of the library with the Wisley Garden as the backdrop; I know my friends are envious.
