Harlow Carr in winter

See our selection of highlights from RHS Garden Harlow Carr in winter

Winter is never drab at Harlow Carr – the Winter Walk is especially spectacular when the low winter sun hits it, and when frost highlights the vast array of textures and colours. Cornus stems come in all shades from green, through orange, yellow and crimson.

Harlow Carr is a great place for a family walk – there's plenty to explore, whatever the weather  – then afterwards you can all warm up with a hot drink and a sweet treat at Bettys Café Tea Rooms.

The lily pond near the Upper Tarn takes on a very different personality amid this snowy landscape.

Three wintry views: frost highlights old seedheads; a snowy woodland walk; and looking towards the Bramall Learning Centre from the Winter Walk.

Take the opportunity to get the whole family out of the house and enjoying a brisk walk around RHS Garden Harlow Carr – Hellebores with their cup-shaped flowers take centre stage at this time of year as other plants take a back seat.

Around every corner you'll see signs of winter – snowdrops sparkling in the winter sun, the texture of shrubs and grasses highlighted by frost – so don your wellies and make the most of it.
