    Join RHS woodland team member Aimee-Beth on a woodland tour taking you deep within the woodland to learn about the vast array of rhododendrons in the garden, many of which are off the beaten track. Tour participants must wear suitable footwear.

    Please book your place by calling 02031765830 between 9am - 5pm, Monday - Thursday.  

    If not all tours are full, you will be able to book these tours at the garden entrance on the day – maximum of 10 people per tour, so booking in advance is advised.

The annual Rhododendron Weekend will once again return to celebrate the beautiful collections of Rhododendrons at RHS Garden Harlow Carr. The Harlow Carr Rhododendron, Camellia and Magnolia group will be on site all weekend offering advice and expertise. In addition to the indoor displays pick up a garden map and enjoy a walk in the woodland discovering our Rhododendron species along the way and pick up particular varieties in the RHS Plant Centre on your way home.

Collect a map on your arrival at the garden to discover where the best or most unusual Rhododendron species can be found within the garden. Enjoy a walk in the woodland to learn a little about these beautiful plants and pick up particular varieties in the RHS Plant Centre on your way home. 

The RHS Rhododendron Competition
11am – 4pm  
The Rhododendron Competition is open to everybody and will give northern growers an opportunity to showcase the very best specimens the regions have to offer. Rhododendrons from the competition will be on display for the public to enjoy across the weekend. If you would like to enter please contact Georgina Barter from the RHS Shows department by email on [email protected] or call 0207 821 3142 for more details on categories and classes. (website details to be added when GB has them through)

Judging of the show will take place on Saturday 14 May between 10am and 11am, where the Jubilee Room will be closed to the general public, whilst the judges preside over the winners of over a dozen classes. The presentation of awards and trophies will take place at 11.30am and garden visitors are welcome to join.

Rhododendron Information & Advisory
11am – 4pm  
The Harlow Carr Rhododendron, Camellia & Magnolia Group will be on hand all weekend to offer information and advice. This is the perfect opportunity to ask a variety of enthusiasts and experts any questions you have about your Rhododendron collection at home.

‘The Best Of’ Rhododendron Displays
11am – 4pm
Over the weekend there will be several displays showcasing the best Rhododendrons from a range of local historical estates and parks plus a special RHS Harlow Carr display cut straight from the garden.

‘Off the beaten track’ Rhododendron Tours
11.30am & 1.30pm

Tours last approximately 45 minutes and will begin from the main entrance steps.

We also have a guest appaerance from a choir called Scherzo who are a community based choir from around the Darlington area. They will be performing at 1pm on Saturday 13th May.
