Spring is a joyful time in nature with everything bursting back to life and colour. Bright spring greens in woodland, then bluebells and tulips, followed by colourful rhododendrons. Join Janet and learn how to achieve a relaxed contemporary style by preparing thoroughly, studying the subject, planning composition and choosing the colours.
The workshop will start with tonal drawings using charcoal and watercolour with big brushes to loosen up and get a feel for the plants and the garden. Students will be able to work outside (weather permitting) or in the classroom. Learn how to build up layers of transparent colour, try techniques such as wet in wet and experiment with using sticks and feathers as well as a variety of different brushes and drawing media. You will work on several paintings over the three days, landscape and floral. There will be a mixture of demonstrations and individual tuition, making the course suitable for everyone except the absolute beginner.
Janet has been a professional painter for over 20 years exhibiting widely, with many images published as prints and greetings cards. She is known for her sumptuous colours and relaxed, contemporary painting style.
