Janet has been a professional painter for more than 20 years exhibiting widely, with many images published as prints and greetings cards. She is known for her sumptuous colours and relaxed, contemporary painting style. You’ll work quickly to capture an impression of your subject and experiment with different compositions and colour combinations to make your paintings sing with summer colour.

Start with tonal drawings using charcoal and watercolour with big brushes to loosen up and get a feel for the plants and the garden. Students will be able to work out in the garden (weather permitting) or indoors. Learn how to build up layers of transparent colour, try techniques such as wet in wet and experiment with using sticks and feathers as well as a variety of different brushes and drawing media, to create several paintings during the course.

There will be a mixture of demonstrations and individual tuition making the course suitable for everyone except the absolute beginner.
